Pinnacle offers Maths Tuition at all levels from years 7 to 12. In particular, we specialise in HSC level Advanced Mathematics (2U), Extension 1 Mathematics (3U) and Extension 2 Mathematics (4U). Our small class size enables our tutors to structure and tailor the lesson to the needs of the students in the particular class. Weekly quizzes are conducted, offering both regular feedback for our students as well as exam pressure training. Pinnacle's Maths Tutors are highly experienced in guiding and training students to achieving top results. We have a proven track record of students achieving outstanding results. In the 2014 HSC alone , over 70% of our students achieved a score of 90 or above in maths (2U, 3U and 4U).
All course work material are designed by Pinnacle's co-founder and lead Maths Tutor Amy. The material is designed in accordance with the new curriculum and particular regard is given to the realities of how students are examined at school. In particular, we specialise in training selective school students for the rigours of their more advanced and difficult curriculum.
We believe that to score top results in any mathematics course, a student needs to attain 3 levels of mastery:
- Mastery of Maths Concepts - our weekly lesson facilitates the mastery of maths concepts by breaking down difficult concepts into simple, easy to remember steps. Students then practice and consolidate these concepts through the homework process.
- Mastery of Exam Techniques - quite often, students tend to ignore or underestimate the importance of good exam techniques. If you are making many careless mistakes in your exams, this is probably the area you need to work on. Good exam techniques include appropriate time management, efficient use of reading time and developing viable cross-checks which can be performed in the exam. Our weekly quizzes are designed to train our students to perform under exam pressure and offer substantial opportunity to fine tune their exam techniques.
- Mastery of Problem Solving Techniques - in any maths exam, whether it be a school assessment or the HSC itself, the last 10% of marks is the most difficult to attain and being able to attain those top marks is what distinguishes you from the other students. Our program place substantial focus on deciphering the hardest problems from past exams and develop a unique set of tools which will enable our students to breakdown and answer any challenging problems.
Above all, we understand the importance of receiving out of class support from our tutors. Being stuck on a maths question is extremely frustrating and we want to offer our helping hand whenever you need it and where ever you need it. We have dedicated homework help sessions running throughout the week to help students as they navigate through the course.
Our English course is highly tailored to the individual student's abilities and needs. All English classes are taught by experienced Local Australian teachers who specialises in English writing and literature. All written tasks are reviewed and graded, providing useful feedback to students facilitating improvement. All students receive support through email with their teacher.
Chemistry, Physics and Biology
These subjects are offered to year 11 and 12 only. The focus of these courses is to provide the student with an in depth understanding of each syllabus dot point and tools to perfect exam responses. Continuous feedback is provided through weekly quizzes. We also place great emphasis on the development of exam techniques through practice with real exam papers from selective schools and past HSC papers. All students have access to homework support sessions.
