Finding the Derivative, Chain Rule, Product Rule, Quotient Rule, Tangents and Normals, the Gradient Function

In this video, I will demonstrate how to answer some typical basic calculus exam questions using examples from real exams under both the Advanced Maths (2U) and Extension 1 Maths (3U) course. Examples include:

  • How to find the derivative of x to the power of n

  • The application of chain rule, product rule and quotient rule in differentiation

  • How to find the equation of tangent and normal

  • Drawing the gradient function from the graph of the function

This is relevant for both Year 11 and Year 12 students preparing for HSC Mathematics and HSC Maths Extension 1 for 2020 and onwards.
