Study SMART these Holidays with 5 easy steps

It is often said that doing well for HSC, Prelims or any other exams or assessments does not necessarily require you to be naturally intelligent, but rather you must be able to study smart. This means prioritising efficiency, identifying your weak points and working on them. Use these implementable steps these holidays to reach your study goals.

Study Smart with Pinnacle

1) Make a master to-do list of all your goals this holidays.

Is it to catch up on all your maths homework? Do X amount of past papers for certain subjects? Polish up your essay on a particular module? Make a grand list of all these goals.

2) Each day, allocate yourself set tasks.

Breaking down that master list into smaller goals and daily achievables will help you stay on track. Trial to see what works best - do you prefer to set 1 subject per day? Or stay focused easier when working on a bit of every subject everyday?

3) Use this time to go over content you did not understand.

The holidays are the perfect opportunity to consolidate the term’s learnings. Go over every topic covered, make sure you have notes for each one

4) Seek help!

Just because you aren’t seeing your teachers or tutors doesn’t mean you can’t get help. Jot down any questions you may have while you’re studying before contacting them. The holidays are also the perfect time to send in practice English essays to your teachers to mark if they are willing to.

5) Use technology to your advantage.

While you should be minimising use of social media or games during your study time, that doesn’t mean technology can’t be helpful. Use study apps such as Forest to track your time spent focusing.

We’re halfway through the school year! Don’t give up now, and definitely take a break as well this upcoming holidays, you deserve it!
